EMMERDALE paedophile Maya Stepney will face prison for abusing Jacob Gallagher, the soap's boss has hinted.
Producer Kate Brooks has revealed the evil teacher will be dealt with properly because the soap has a responsibility to play the story out "responsibly".
She told the : "We’ve got a responsibility. A lot of people watch the show, a lot of teenagers watch the show, and also we would never just tell one of these stories lightly. We have a duty to make sure the right protocol is carried out, and the right outcome.
"It can make for uncomfortable viewing but I think it’s a really important storyline to tell."
She added: "There’s still a long way to go, it’s not going to be as straightforward as you’d imagine, there’s going to be other obstacles thrown into the mix.
"We want people to be yelling at the TV 'please tell somebody. This is not right! You’re a young lad. please speak out about this'"
It comes as The Sun Online revealed Emmerdale is facing a potential Ofcom probe over scenes showing Maya seducing Jacob in a hotel.
The scenes - which aired earlier this week in the ITV soap - left fans feeling sickened and 21 of them complained to the regulator, The Sun Online can reveal.
An Ofcom spokeswoman told The Sun Online: "We’ve received 21 complaints about those scenes in Emmerdale, which we are assessing against our broadcasting rules, before deciding whether or not to investigate."
Viewers watched teacher Maya climb on top of Jacob, 16, and tell the schoolboy "Happy Birthday" tonight as she finally bedded her boyfriend David's son.
But tweets poured in from outraged people at home, who complained over the explicit scenes that have been teased for weeks.
One fan groaned: "Sick of the maya amd Jacob storyline.... Pedophile teacher groom him for a year until he's of age get her caught already"
#One more agreed and said on Twitter: "This weird storyline gives me the creeps! Hope ends soon!"
Another added: "Emmerdale time folks jakey and Maya is annoying me #Emmerdale"
As another viewer said: "David is so stupid #emmerdale or is he blind"
The despised Emmerdale villain almost bedded Jacob last week.

Fans were outraged during scenes where Maya tried to seduce Jacob on his 16th birthday.
She told him that her present for him was something that needed to be unwrapped rather than wrapped, leaving viewers cringing.
She then arranged to meet the schoolboy in the summerhouse to give him his gift but was stunned when she saw him there with his cover-girlfriend Liv Flaherty.
