Emmerdale spoilers: Paedophile Maya Stepney covers Jacob Gallagher abuse by claiming Leyla Harding was romping with Billy Fletcher

PERVERTED teacher Maya Stepney causes more trouble in Emmerdale next week as she tries to cover up her illegal affair with schoolboy Jacob Gallagher.

Jacob, 16, and Maya sneak into Tug Ghyll cottage for a romp but they’re almost caught out when Tracy Metcalfe – who used to be married to Jacob’s dad David – returns home unexpectedly.

She’s shocked when she hears noises coming from upstairs and a panicking Maya has to think fast and tell Tracy that Leyla Harding – Jacob’s biological mum – is upstairs with a man.

Tracy – played by Amy Walsh in the ITV soap - seems to buy the lie but things get complicated later when Tracy spots Leyla outside talking to Billy Fletcher, who Tracy has just begun a romance with.

Tracy is furious as she assumes Leyla and Billy were upstairs together. She angrily confronts Billy and Leyla, who are both left baffled by Tracy’s accusations.

Meanwhile a guilty Jacob looks on, knowing he’s responsible for the fallout. Could the lie backfire even more?

It was revealed last week that evil Maya – Louisa Clein - will be facing prison after Emmerdale bosses promised to finish the shocking grooming storyline off properly.

Producer Kate Brooks told Metro: “We’ve got a responsibility. A lot of people watch the show, a lot of teenagers watch the show, and also we would never just tell one of these stories lightly. We have a duty to make sure the right protocol is carried out, and the right outcome.

"It can make for uncomfortable viewing but I think it’s a really important storyline to tell."

She added: "There’s still a long way to go, it’s not going to be as straightforward as you’d imagine, there’s going to be other obstacles thrown into the mix.

"We want people to be yelling at the TV 'please tell somebody. This is not right! You’re a young lad. please speak out about this'"
