Five burning questions new ITV thriller Cheat needs to answer in episode two
ITV's new thriller Cheat has already gripped the nation after just one episode
ITV'S CHEAT gripped the nation after the first episode.
But what should we look out for in episode two of the psychological thriller? Here's the lowdown.
Five questions from ITV's Cheat in episode one
WARNING: Contains spoilers from episode one.
1)Did Leah kill Adam?
Adam’s killer on Cheat is yet to be revealed in the ITV series.
At the beginning of the first episode, viewers saw his wife and University lecturer Leah in prison.
In the opening scene Leah was receiving a visit from her former student Rose in a time jump scene set in the future.
Cheat predominantly takes place prior to Adam’s death and shows how Leah and Rose’s feud first started and escalated to murder.
One major clue about the identity of Adam’s killer came towards the end of the first episode.
DI Hammond was shown staring at two photos of Leah and Rose.
When asked by DI Bould what he was doing, DI Hammond responded he had doubts over which one was the killer.
2) Why is Rose so angry at Leah?
Yes we know that Leah, who taught Rose, accuses her of cheating, but is this enough for her to want to ruin her life?
The storyline kicks off with Rose being called out by her Uni lecturer Leah on her dissertation.
Leah claims that she has plagiarised the essay and fails her, she then embarrasses Rose in class.
Rose then begins he revenge. But is this all enough to lead to murder?
3) Who is the University employee that Rose keeps talking to?
A man called Ben visits Rose twice during the first episode.
She clearly has a sexual relationship with him, as she promises to make it "worth his while", when she asks for information on Leah.
When she asks him to get her Leah's address he agrees and then says: "But you can't tell anyone where you got it from, cause it's not in my job description." Implying her works for the university.
4) Why is Adam and Leah's marriage on the rocks?
Rewind right back to the beginning of the story, and we find Leah and her fiancé Adam in a troubled relationship that has hit a particularly rough patch.
Adam desperately wants a baby, but so far there has been no joy.
Leah is then caught in the toilet by Rose masturbating over her colleague.
Then, when fertility tests reveal that he is actually the one with the problem, he reacts by cruelly throwing it back in Leah’s face: “It’s worked out nicely for you, hasn’t it? You never even wanted kids in the first place.”
Adam then lets Rose into the couple's house when she turns up invited, while Leah is out.
They swap flirty comments over a glass of whisky.
5) Did Rose kill Leah's cat?
After Rose's visit Leah notices her cat Betsy is missing.
After turning up uninvited at the house, Rose leaves abruptly while Adam is out of the room, carrying a large bag in front of her. Later, Ben whispers to Rose in the library: “You know that other thing you asked for? If you’re really sure, I’ll sort it for you.”
We suspect that he may be referring to the killing the cat, who is later discovered dead and missing a collar.
“Poor Betsy,” Rose says when Leah tells her that her cat is dead - but how did she know the cat's name? She also looked pretty pleased at the revelation.
