Aladdin trailer finally impresses Disney fans as Will Smith’s genie cracks Fresh Prince of Bel Air jokes after backlash

ALADDIN'S first full trailer delighted fans today by showing Will Smith's all-powerful Genie making a Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air joke.
The gag comes when Aladdin asks to be turned into - you guessed it - "a prince" to impress Princess Jasmine, with writers unable to resist dropping in a reference to Will's old show.
The 50-year-old star's ripped Genie replies, with a wave of his hand: "There's a lot of grey area in 'make me a prince'. I could just make you a prince."
A figure appears in the distance wearing the sort of lurid pink and green his character from the 90s telly sensation loved.
"Y'all seen my palace?" the distant prince yells over, in a callback to Will's days living it up in Uncle Phil's Bel-Air mansion.
Fans were delighted to see the nod, with one writing: "I'm just happy to see the Fresh Prince referenced in the Aladdin trailer" alongside an animated picture of Will's famous character.
The new trailer has received a much warmer welcome than when the first picture of Will as the Genie appeared.
The big reveal was largely greeted with laughter and people slamming the look as "utterly terrifying".
One critic wrote: "They premiered this image at night? We are supposed to sleep after this? I have never known peace."
However, today's trailer is packed with plenty of non-Genie delights too, opening with Aladdin running through the streets of Agrabah with pet monkey Abu, just like in the cartoon version.
We also get to meet evil sorcerer Jafar, Princess Jasmine and her tiger, alongside plenty of roof-jumping and a glimpse inside the magical Cave of Wonders.
And don't worry Aladdin purists - because the Disney film's anthem A Whole New World also gets a prominent airing.
Mena Massoud plays Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar.
However, there's little doubt who the star of the show is, with Will's Genie proving the undoubted highlight of the trailer.
The last Aladdin movie was Disney's 1992 cartoon version, where Robin Williams provided the voice of the Genie in what is widely hailed as one of his greatest performances.
Guy Ritchie's new version, which was filmed at Longcross Studios in Surrey and Jordan's Wadi Rum Desert, is out in May.
