BEING a top baker is hard work, so Big Narstie kept his strength up during The Great Celebrity Bake Off charity special last night – as viewers caught him munching a sandwich.
Fans of the show were tickled as the rapper stopped mid-competition and produced a sandwich from under his counter, before eating it slowly despite having just 15 minutes left to finish his shortbread, which still needed decorating.
Meanwhile, the other competitors - comedian Jonny Vegas, Olympic athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Labour MP Jess Phillips, who went on to win the Stand Up To Cancer special - were frantically running around creating their masterpieces.
“He’s gone a bit quiet, hasn’t he? Means he’s concentrating,” grinned Katarina to the camera.
And viewers were equally as tickled by his lex demeanour in the stressful situation.
"As if Big Narstie's just whipped out a sandwich halfway through the challenge," wrote one viewer on Twitter, as another chuckled: "Love how everyone’s rushing around decorating their biscuits and Big Narstie’s just munching a sandwich."
He then began nibbling his dog-shaped shortbread pieces before he'd produced them to the judges, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
"Big Narstie on this Celebrity Bake Off is funny! I'd do the same, eat half, serve half," wrote another viewer.
A second added: "Big Narstie is killing me. He's eaten half his signature challenge".
Despite not winning the show, he did win over a whole load of new fans thanks to his his chirpy nature and the way he greeted posh Prue as: "Wagwan, Prue dog!"
However, the grime artist missed out on a challenge due to him falling ill, with the show’s presenter Sandi Toksvig standing in for him.
