'SHE WAS A FIGHTER'

Jade Goody stunned doctors by carrying crying six-year-old son to her hospital bed just hours before her death

JADE Goody defied the odds hours before her death by carrying her six-year-old son to her hospital bed when she heard him crying in the night.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Jade's close friend Kevin Adams revealed the strength she found in her final moments.

The tragic reality TV star - who died of cervical cancer aged 27 - stunned medics by getting out of her deathbed to comfort Bobby as he sobbed in his sleep.

Earlier that evening, a doctor who visited Jade at home - where she had a hospital bed in the dining room - told how she had less than 48 hours left to live.

"The medic gathered us all together and said, 'this is it, Jade doesn't have long left'," said Kevin.

"She wasn't eating and the doctor said her health was deteriorating rapidly.

"But that night Jade heard Bobby cry from his bedroom.

"She got up, walked upstairs and pulled him up onto her back and brought him to her hospital bed.

"The next day I told the doctor what had happened and she said, 'no Jade doesn't have the strength to do that because everything in her body is failing'.

"I told her that I saw it with my own eyes.

"She was able to do it because those kids meant everything to her.

"That memory will live with me forever, it is so special to me."

The second part of Channel 4's documentary about the tragic star will hit our screens tonight, offering fans a personal insight into Jade's life before her devastating death in 2009.

Kevin - who is known for being a choreographer on Fame Academy - first met Jade in 2002 days after she left the Big Brother house.

He was hired to be her personal trainer and - after realising cheeky Jade was sneakily eating chocolate cake while on her diet - moved the star into his home.

During this time, Jade fell pregnant with Bobby to her ex-partner Jeff Brazier, and later went on to have another son, Freddie.

Her friendship with Kevin blossomed and it was him who Jade would bring to the hospital to sit with as she went through gruelling chemotherapy sessions.

Jade was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August 2008 after making her name in reality TV.

In her weakest moments, Jade confessed to Kevin that she couldn't understand "why God had given her two beautiful children" and wanted to take her away from them.

But Jade didn't take dying lying down and her attitude remained positive until the very end - which may explain why she found the strength to carry a six-year-old down a flight of stairs in her final hours.

"She was a real fighter," Kevin said.

"There was no doubt in her mind that she would recover. Even in her darkest days.

"The reality of what was going to happen didn't register.

"It always sticks in my mind that, after she was diagnosed, she told me: 'When I get better, no one is ever going to believe I had cancer'.

"It really worried her."

Despite her untimely death, Jade lived life to the full and saved thousands of lives after dying from the disease.

Many cervical cancer survivors today have said her legacy lives on in their hearts after her death prompted them to get a smear test.

Kevin added: "I want people to know that cervical cancer rates are back to being at the highest rates ever.

"No one should ever experience the pain that Jade felt. I would hate for anyone to suffer like she did.

"What people are risking by not getting a smear test is just not worth it."
