Zayn Malik apologises for being ‘a s**t person’ after Louis Tomlinson fallout
The 1D star tweeted a mysterious apology just weeks after his former bandmate said he'd let him down following his mum's death
ZAYN Malik tweeted an apology for being a “s*** person” just weeks after Louis Tomlinson revealed how his former bandmate had let him following his mum’s death.
In a tweet that has since been deleted, Zayn, 26, wrote, "I'd like [to] apologise for basically being a s**t person."
The admission comes just weeks after Louis opened up to The Sun about how the once close friends barely spoke anymore.
According to Louis, things soured between the two when Zayn promised to support him at his first X Factor performance following his mum’s death in 2016.
While no specific reference was made to the intended recipient of his apology, Louis, 27, revealed that while bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne all turned up, Zayn was a no-show at the last minute.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Louis said: “I had a couple of calls with him after I lost my mum and all the boys had agreed to come to that performance and he didn't show so that really bugged me.
“It was just seeing everyone there – Harry, Niall and Liam – that was what I needed that night, that support.
“So on the other end of the spectrum it kind of really showed. So, eh, I hope he's alright, but...”
At this point in the interview, Louis gave a one-fingered salute to the microphone.
The heartbroken star - whose sister Félicité, 18, died of a suspected cardiac arrest earlier this month - admitted the death of his mum Johannah Deakin has changed his life.
Zayn left One Direction in spring 2015 and admitted in an interview with British Vogue a few years later that he’d grown apart from his former bandmates.
Zayn said: “I ain't spoke to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you.
“That's just the way it is. There's things that happen and things that were said after I left...
“Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected."
Despite many of 1D fans “shipping” Louis and Harry, it was actually Louis and Zayn who were close, with boys even getting matching tattoos.
Before Louis’s mum Johannah Deakin passed away she had told the One Direction singer that she hoped he and former bandmate Zayn Malik would rekindle their friendship.
The 1D star revealed the wish to The Sun shortly after his mum’s tragic death.
He said: "My mum said, 'You’ve got to get back in contact with Zayn. Life’s too f*****g short.”
