Married At First Sight viewers stunned as they recognise groom’s dad from Dickinsons Real Deal
Mark Stevens later sparked outrage when he criticised his son's bride's looks
MARRIED At First Sight fans were left scratching their heads when they recognised one of the contestant's dads in tonight's episode of the Channel 4 show, with eagle-eyed telly addicts identifying him as Mark Stevens from Dickinson's Real Deal.
The father-of-the-groom is a buyer on the ITV show and did not seem impressed when his 25-year-old son, Jack, revealed that he is marrying a stranger - leaving viewers outraged with his comments about the bride's looks.
IT consultant Jack was seen returning to his hometown of Brighton to break the news of his impending nuptials to his family, and while his mum, Carol, was all for her son marrying total stranger Verity, Mark seethed: "You need your head looked at.
"I'm going to send you to somebody, what if it goes wrong?"
However, he still gave his support to his son, using his jeweller expertise to accompany Jack while he got Verity's wedding ring custom made.
But fans were too distracted by Mark's familiar face to pay attention to the unconventional love story, and took to social media to share their recognition.
One wrote: "Jack's dad looks familiar? And it’s bugging me because I can’t figure out where I’ve seen him before!"
Another tweeted: "His dad looks like someone and I'm struggling with who?"
A third asked: "Someone please tell me where Jack's dad is from on the telly.. it is bugging me."
However, it didn't take long before viewers placed his face, with one writing: "One of the dealers from Dickinson’s real deal."
A second quipped: "Hopefully Jack will take after his dad and find The REAL DEAL."
Later in the show, Mark sparked backlash when he shared his hopes for his husband's bride-to-be, telling the camera: "I hope she is quite slim, athletic, well-spoken... Hopefully a fun-loving girl."
After the ceremony, the TV star was seen looking unimpressed as he ranted to his wife about how the marriage won't last - snapping that he "knows his son".
His wife replied: "Not everything is based on looks."
Mark later told the camera: "What Jack normally goes for, it's very, very different.
"It's different to what I am used to for my son."
The comments outraged viewers, with one tweeting: "Can't stand Jack's dad, how shallow can you be! Can’t believe all he cares about is looks."
Another seethed: "His dad is an absolute k***! Verity could do a thousand times better than Jack in terms of looks! She’s far too good for him!"
