Killing Eve Season 2 – five best moments from season 1 and four questions series 3 needs to answer
KILLING Eve is coming to the end of an amazing second season, and it's had it's fair share of sinister yet stylish scenes between Eve and Villanelle.
Now, we can't wait to get all our questions answered in series three. But what are they, and what are some of the best moments from season one? Find out below...
Five best moments from season one of Killing Eve
1) The ice cream incident
This is a brilliant example of Villanelle's "couldn't care less" attitude.
The series opens with her sitting in a cafe in Vienna eating ice cream before going off on her next kill.
You see her watching a little girl opposite her, also eating ice cream.
They are both staring at each other, with Villanelle smiling at the girl who doesn't smile back, but she does smile at the waiter.
Villannelle calmly gets up and starts to walk out of the cafe and as she leaves she knocks the ice cream deliberately all over the little girl.
She just carries on walking, smiling to herself, as the little girl screams and then starts to cry.
2) The pink dress
This scene makes you laugh out loud when Villanelle opts to where a pink frilly dress for a meeting that will assess her ability to kill people.
In the scene, she smiles happily and puffs up her dress as she describes her latest kill, where she "watched the life drain" from her victim's eyes.
Her choice of such a cheerful dress is a perfect contrast to the grisly subject, and is true to her character’s dark sense of humour.
It's a highly amusing scene, with a very sinister narrative
3) Eve and Villanelle finally meet
After working out MI5 agent Eve (Sandra Oh) is trying to track her down, Villanelle ups her game and starts to mess with Eve.
Stealing her suitcase and leaving her a dress to wear are just a few of the things she does.
But it is not until episode five that the two women finally meet.
During the scene, the pair bizarrely eat shepherd's pie together while they are locked in a deep conversation - all the while you think Villanelle is going to suddenly kill Eve.
There is also the famous line, when Eve calls Villanelle a psychopath, she says: "You should never call a psychopath a psychopath, it upsets them."
4) Villanelle and the kid
This is again a comical scene with a dark twist.
Villanelle kidnaps Konstantin's young daughter Irina.
But instead of the kid being scared of Villanelle, she constantly gives her sass.
The girl's cheeky nature, and also the conversation between the pair, has you laughing and makes you forget the child's life is in danger.
5) Eve stabs Villanelle
The show ends with Eve tracking Villanelle down to her old apartment in Paris.
It looks like the pair are reconciling and are seen getting close while they lie on the bed.
You think they are going to kiss, but instead Eve seizes the moment to stab Villanelle - who then vanishes when Eve goes to get something to stop the bleeding.
Four questions series three needs to answer
1) Will Eve survive?
Season two came to a dramatic conclusion when Villanelle shot Eve after she rejected her advances.
This followed Eve's realisation that she had killed Raymond without realising Villanelle had a gun - meaning she could have done it herself.
However, the icy assassin did not seem bothered by the situation.
In true Villanelle style, she breathed, "you're mine" to Eve, before turning to her with a gun when Eve refused to acknowledge her lustful declaration.
Will Eve meet the fateful end predicted in the show's name? This may seem premature ahead of season three, but, with the unpredictable Villanelle, anything is possible
2) How will Eve's relationship with Villanelle change?
If Eve survives (our fingers are crossed), she will be faced with a new challenge - how to come to terms with the fact that she is now a murderer.
In a creepy moment, Villanelle claimed she wanted Eve to experience what it feels like to kill, and now she has. In fact, Eve said this now makes her just like Villanelle.
Does this mean Eve may develop a disturbing thirst for blood?
And now Eve is technically a villain too, how will this affect her relationship with Villanelle? Only time will tell.
3) What will Villanelle do next?
After pulling the trigger on Eve, Villanelle walks away without too much concern. But where will she go next?
If we consider her lustful desire for Eve, it seems likely that she should go back and help her.
But we've got to remember that Villanelle is a psychopath. The other option is she continues to coldly resume her daily activities, leaving Eve just another unfortunate mark on her hit list.
And now she's all on her own without a handler, how will Villanelle fare?
4) What will Niko do now?
Poor Niko. When we last saw Eve's estranged husband (played by Owen McDonnell), he was confronted with the suffocated body of Gemma (Emma Pierson).
Villanelle had killed her after grilling Niko on whether he loved Eve. And yes, the wounded man does still love Eve.
But will he still love Eve once he finds out she is a murderer?
Plus, let's not forget Eve's affair with younger man Hugo.
Things in series three aren't boding well for the rocky ex-lovers...
