Boyzone’s Keith Duffy rushed to hospital in Thailand forcing band to perform without him in Bangkok
The Coronation Street star, 44, was being treated in a Bangkok hospital after the drama minutes before the band were due on stage
BOYZONE star Keith Duffy was rushed to hospital in Thailand after collapsing before a concert.
Dad-of-two Keith, 44, was just minutes from taking to the stage when he was taken ill.
He later had tests in a Bangkok hospital, where his wife Lisa was said to be at his bedside.
The drama came just 24 hours after Keith tweeted under the hashtag #sorehead — suggesting he had been partying hard with his bandmates.
But their bosses said they had no idea what caused him to collapse.
In recent years, Keith has toured the UK with former Westlife star Brian McFadden as BoyzLife — performing classic hits from the two groups.
Fans complained that the pair were unprofessional — turning up to gigs late and appearing to be drunk. The unruly behaviour and hard partying led to several gigs being cancelled.
Keith collapsed at Bangkok’s Thunder Dome arena — the latest stop on Boyzone’s “Thank You And Goodnight” farewell world tour.
The previous day the former Coronation Street favourite attended the band’s press conference.
Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, both 42, and Mikey Graham, 46, performed to a sell-out crowd without him.
Boyzone PR sources at the venue said Keith suffered a violent attack of diarrhoea and vomiting. He was not fit to perform and organisers delayed the band’s appearance for an hour.
A tweet from the band’s account said: “Keith was taken ill before the gig here in Bangkok this evening and has been admitted to hospital on the advice of the local medical team.
“Our brother will be back on his feet as soon as possible.”
The band were set to fly on to the next leg of their tour in Perth, western Australia, but were rescheduling flights.
They began the tour last week with two-hour sets plus encores in Jakarta and Hong Kong.
Three days ago, Keith tweeted he was working off jet lag in a hotel gym.
He started acting after the band’s first split and won acclaim as ladies’ man Ciaran McCarthy in Corrie.
A band spokeswoman said: “Everyone’s hoping he’ll be better soon.”
