Boyzone’s Ronan Keating says Keith Duffy was on a ‘downward spiral’ before Thailand collapse
The 42-year-old revealed that him and his band mates had been forced to travel to Australia as his pal awaited blood test results
RONAN Keating has revealed how Keith Duffy's health had rapidly deteriorated ahead of Boyzone's concert in Thailand yesterday.
The 42-year-old singer discussed how his band mate was waiting for blood test results to see whether he could rejoin the band on their tour.
"He took ill before the show, he just went on a downward spiral," he told Magic Breakfast.
"He came to the gig, he had a massive, really high temperature, the doctors arrived at the gig and they said it wasn't possible for him to go on in the state he was in."
And Ronan explained how the the rest of the band had been forced to travel to Australia without him, as they have a show tomorrow night.
Earlier The Sun Online revealed that Keith, 44, will be released from hospital today after spending the night there.
Boyzone bosses said his overnight stay was "to be on the safe side".
They added: "He will join the Boyz in Australia in time for the next gig in Perth."
However, despite bosses claims that he would be joining the rest of the band at their show tomorrow night, Ronan revealed that it his return depended on the diagnosis and confessed that they still were unsure on what caused the sudden illness.
"We really don't know, we assumed it was food poisoning or something like that, but we don't know, there may be something else going on. We're waiting to hear back on the blood tests and whether or not he can travel," he said.
Earlier today it was revealed that Keith had collapsed at Bangkok’s Thunder Dome arena — the latest stop on Boyzone’s “Thank You And Goodnight” farewell world tour.

Boyzone PR sources at the venue said Keith suffered a violent attack of diarrhoea and vomiting. He was not fit to perform and organisers delayed the band’s appearance for an hour.
A tweet from the band’s account said: “Keith was taken ill before the gig here in Bangkok this evening and has been admitted to hospital on the advice of the local medical team.
“Our brother will be back on his feet as soon as possible.”
