Alex Jones reveals she suffered a miscarriage and hosted The One Show an HOUR later
The One Show host blamed herself for being 'too stressed' during her pregnancy
ALEX Jones has revealed she suffered a miscarriage and appeared on The One Show just one hour later back in 2017.
The Welsh TV star, 42, has opened up about her secret heartbreak as she prepares to welcome her second child.
"We learnt the baby didn't have a heartbeat. I was around 14 weeks, which is a decent amount of time," she told "The baby had stopped developing at about nine weeks. That was really hard. It hit us like a ton of bricks."
Despite her heartbreak, Alex insisted on going back on The One Show on the same day she discovered the news.
Her boss asked her to take time off but the mum-on-one wanted to carry on as normal.
"I said, 'What else am I going to do?' It's a horrible feeling because it is so empty. There's nothing to say. It's done."
Alex and her husband, Charlie Thomson, 40, and insurance broker from New Zealand had flown over to spend Christmas with his parents when Alex discovered she was pregnant just 10 months after her son Teddy was born.
They were "bowled over" with the news and "thrilled" with their "unexpected" pregnancy.
A few weeks later, back in the UK, they went for a scan to establish the due date.
"We learnt the baby didn't have a heartbeat. I was around 14 weeks, which is a decent amount of time," she said.
"The baby had stopped developing at about nine weeks. That was really hard. It hit us like a ton of bricks."
Last month, Alex admitted she is being extra cautious and was rushed to hospital after she couldn't feel her baby move - but reassured fans her tot is fine.
The One Show presenter revealed she was pregnant with her second child in December.
Alex feared something was wrong with her unborn baby when she hadn't felt it move for a while.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, she posted a picture of herself lying on a hospital bed, a monitor strapped to her stomach while wearing a grey sweater.
She wrote across it: "Hadn't felt much movement from the baby for a few days so lying here being monitored."
Alex then told other expectant mums not to be afraid of seeking reassurance if they are worried about something similar.
She added: "If in doubt mammas ALWAYS check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat."
Alex first revealed the happy news she was pregnant again during a festive edition of The One Show in December.
Alex was congratulated by her co-host Matt Baker and hundreds of viewers, who inundated the show’s social media handles with their well wishes.
Holding her stomach, the Welsh TV star explained: “Now I’ve not been on the mince pies! There is a little baby – look.”

Alex had made no secret of her desire to have a second child and last year told The Sun it had been tough trying to conceive again.
She said: “I have to say, the first time – absolutely fine. Luckily, God, it happened.
“But second time, not as easy. I suppose I’m older now, but we took it for granted that it would be OK. "But you don’t really know until you start trying how it’s going to go, do you?"
