Elsewhere Billy and Tracy Metcalfe – played by Amy Walsh in the ITV soap - are left feeling awkward when they’re set up on a date.

Their fledgling romance hit the rocks when Tracy saw an angry Billy shove his brother Ellis up against a wall.

Deciding she didn’t want to get involved with someone who was in jail for GBH and still can’t control his temper, she called things off.

Will Billy be able to win her round and prove he really is a changed man? Or will this Max person prove otherwise?

Billy – who is played by former Britain’s Got Talent star Jay Kontzle - arrived in the village on Christmas Day, just in time to see his mum Jessie Grant tie the knot with Marlon Dingle.

He’d been released early from prison and although Jessie was pleased to see him, she was the only one.

Ellis was put out that Billy had arrived and it was revealed that Aaron Dingle knew Billy from prison as he was part of the gang that gave him trouble inside.

Billy was jailed for three years after falling in with the wrong crowd, to his mum’s despair.

On a drunken night out he was involved in an attack on a random man who they viciously beat up and left for dead. Jessie has always believed that Billy was innocent, while Ellis is convinced his brother is guilty.
