Who is Natalie in Coronation Street and is she in love with David Platt?
CORONATION Street has welcomed its latest newcomer Natalie to the cobbles and it seems like her character is already ruffling up a few feathers.
The feisty brunette has bagged herself a job working alongside David Platt in the barber shop but is she now falling for her boss and what else do we know about her? Let's find out.
Who is Natalie in Coronation Street?
Natalie is a former waitress who used to work with Nick Tilsley (David Platt's older brother) at the restaurant he ran with ex-wife Elsa in Nottingham.
She’s also Nick’s accomplice in stealing £80k from his gran Audrey Roberts and was seen on CCTV withdrawing cash from a number of different cash points.
Nick paid her, but she came back to Weatherfield demanding another £2k from him or she’d spill his secret to everyone.
But then Natalie eventually relented and told him she’d take a job from him instead.
Nick wasn’t keen but David decided to give her a trial.
Natalie is played by actress Cassie Bradley. Soap fans will recognise her from Casualty, where she played Leigh-Anne Carr.
She also starred in the Torvill and Dean TV movie.
Cassie is a seasoned theatre actress too and was cast by Sam Mendes in the National Theatre production of King Lear.
Is Natalie in love with David Platt?
There’s definitely a spark between David and Natalie and it’s obvious that David is impressed when Natalie tells him how much she wants to pursue a career at the barbers.
David is engaged to Shona Ramsey and the couple have been through a lot together, including David’s rape ordeal in 2018.
Actress Cassie Bradley has revealed her character will develop feelings for her boss, David, and will threaten his relationship with Shona.
Cassie said: "I think there are the seeds of a crush there, he’s the first person in a long while that’s given her a chance and she admires him for speaking up for her.
"She’s fought for everything her whole life then suddenly she’s got someone in her corner and I think that’s where that seed will develop."
Natalie's feelings will see her clash with David Shona, but Cassie has insisted Natalie is more than a match for her love rival.
She added: "I think she’s a pretty good match for Shona which is exciting to see. They're both rough diamonds, they both have a similar background where they’ve had to fight for a lot.
"It will be interesting to watch them sparring with each other, there’s going to be fireworks and that’s exciting to play."
