EMMERDALE'S Liam Fox switched The Woolpack for the Moulin Rouge during his romantic trip to Paris with new fiancee Jo Hudson.

The 48-year-old actor - who plays Dan Spencer in the ITV soap - revealed he had popped the question in a Twitter post yesterday.

Liam and fellow actor Jo headed to the city of love for a romantic vacation, during which he got down on one knee and proposed, with Jo sporting a sparkling diamond ring in their social media snap.

During their stay, the couple headed to the Moulin Rouge, posing outside the world famous venue with it's iconic glowing windmill.

He joked: "Now then Westminster Abbey or Stockport registry office??? Can’t bloody decide."

The couple did plenty of sightseeing during the trip, and also posed for a snap near the Champs Elysees.

Liam and Jo - who starred in Emmerdale as Ross Barton's doctor in September 2018 - also went for a posh meal at Le Train Bleu in the Gare de Lyon railway station.

The venue features ornate, gilded and painted ceilings with impressive chandeliers, and was recommended to them by Liam's Emmerdale co-star Chris Bisson.

Jo wrote on Twitter: "Diner au @trainbleuparis avec @Liamfoxactor. Merci @ChrisBisson pour la recommandation. C’est beau ici!!"

It appears Liam popped the question in the restaurant, as Jo showed off her engagement ring in a picture outside the eatery, and he was wearing the same shirt he had on in her previous snaps inside the venue.

A number of Liam's Emmerdale colleagues including Sandra Marvin, Gaynor Faye and Jay Kontzle rushed to congratulate the star.

The soap's official page tweeted: "Congrats! We're getting our best hat out from the wardrobe."

Sandra - who plays Jessie Dingle - added: "Omg!! Huge congratulations to you both! Amazing news."

Liam was previously married to Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane.

They share two children and they divorced in 2015 after 16 years of marriage.

Liam's character Dan first arrived on Emmerdale in 2011, having previously worked on Coronation Street, Casualty, and Cold Feet.
