Game of Thrones season 8 sees Jaime Lannister kill his pregnant sister Cersei, hints actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
GAME Of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hinted that his character Jaime Lannister will kill his pregnant sister Cersei in the final series of the show.
The 48-year-old actor made the shock revelation on Jimmy Kimmel's chat show last night while he was talking about season 8.
Nikolaj talked about a variety of things to do with the award winning HBO series with the presenter, including whether he would be able to keep his character's hand when the series finished.
But the topic of the conversation soon turned to Game Of Thrones fan theories about the ending of the show, as the actor admitted that he had read a few of the theories that had been written, despite already knowing what happens for around two years.
Reading out the first theory, Jimmy said: "Jaime Lannister will kill his sister Cersei."
"That's a theory," replied Nikolaj.
He hinted: "It makes sense though if you think about it."
The actor then laughed as he rushed the host onto the next fan theory- however it seems fans have even come up with a theory for how his character could kill his sister.
Jimmy said: "Arya will use Jaime's face to kill Cersei."
"That would be cool wouldn't it," interrupted the actor.
The host continued: "We would think it was Jaime doing it, but it would turn out to be Arya Stark who had done it. That would be good too."
Since the start of the fantasy series Jaime has been in a relationship with his twin sister Cersei , played by Lena Headey, and the siblings have had three children together - with one on the way.
After Nikolaj urged the host on, Jimmy also read out a variety of other fan theories, including Jon Snow or Bran Stark becoming the Night King and Daenerys Targaryen becoming a dragon, but there was one theory that the actor admitted particularly caught his attention.
He said: "There is this theory of 'the chosen one' who will come back and save the day.
"I think everyone thinks it's Jon Snow, but there is also something about a guy called Bielsa which is a guy who comes and will magically transform the world for the good. So when everything is lost, he will come and magically transform the north into this beautiful paradise."
Cutting in, Jimmy joked: "Everyone will be so mad if that happens. That is the equivalent of 'it was all a dream'.
But, it turned out that the Danish actor was making a joke about Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Switching back to talking seriously about the fan theories he's seen on the internet, he admitted that he's never seen anyone who's got the whole plot for the final series correct.
"But, when I read it the first time I was blown away," he revealed.
"I wrote to Dan and David [the two creators] and I was like, "I don't know how you did it but I can't imagine a better ending to this show."
"It's that satisfying?" questioned Jimmy.
"It is- 'sad'isfying," the actor jokingly replied.
Meanwhile, earlier this month fans were freaking out at the latest teasers released after they hinted that all of their favourite characters will die in the final season.
When the network released the second full-length Game of Thrones trailer dubbed “Aftermath”, fans began worrying as it shows Winterfell completely destroyed with their favourite heroes' possessions seen scattered across the battlefield.
And another poster shows all of the characters’ lifeless bodies forming the shape of the Iron Throne.
The poster is captioned: “The great war was here", while the trailer shows Jon Snow’s sword “Longclaw”, Arya Stark’s beloved sword “Needle”, Jaime Lannister’s gold hand and Bran Stark’s wheelchair among the ruins.
