The Sun’s Bizarre column was first to reveal Zayn had been lined up to record the soundtrack to Guy Ritchie’s reboot of Disney classic Aladdin.

A film insider said: “Zayn is looking to work on something new in a bid to lose his reputation that’s become murky in recent years.

He was approached about working with another female singer on the soundtrack and was keen to do so.

“It would be the first kid-friendly work he’s done since he quit One Direction in 2015 and could make him more viable in terms of his future music career.”

The film, which stars Will Smith as the Genie, uses the distinctive World Heritage-listed scenery in Wadi Rum, Jordan, as the backdrop for some stunning CGI-enhanced action.

Zayn got his naughty reputation after cheating on his ex-fiancée, Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards.

He also fell out with bandmates Harry Styles, Niall HoranLouis Tomlinson and Liam Payne and admitted smoking cannabis because it made him more “creative”.

His former 1D bandmate Louis admitted their friendship has soured since he left the band in 2015.

Speaking recently on The Sun’s Dan Wootton’s podcast, Louis told how they kept in touch for a while following Zayn’s departure.

However, he admitted that it “bugged” him that Zayn didn’t show up to his X Factor performance in 2016, shortly after the death of his mother Johannah Deakin.

He had promised he would be there to support him but did not turn up alongside their other bandmates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne.

The new Aladdin movie hits cinemas next month.
