DAENERYS Targaryen is one of the favourites to end up on the Iron Throne - and our amazing Game of Thrones timeline shows just how far the Mother of Dragons has come since her season one debut.

The blonde-haired Queen was introduced to the hit fantasy series as the submissive sister of Viserys, who sold her to the Dothraki and ruthlessly left her at the mercy of husband Khal Drogo.

Defying all odds, Daenerys managed to find inner strength and power during her time with the Dothraki, growing to love her husband and becoming a respected Khaleesi among the army.

The beauty, played by Emilia Clarke, saw her power come under threat after she suffered a miscarriage and Khal Drogo died, but when she walked into a fire holding her three dragon eggs and emerged unburnt and with three baby dragons the majority of the Dothraki pledged their loyalty to her.

From then, Dany made it her mission to free thousands of slaves, with Ser Jorah Mormont as her trusted right-hand man.

The newly-free men supported her claim to the Iron Throne and stood behind her as an army, with the Dragon Queen recruiting the prestigious Unsullied that has fighter Grey Worm at its helm.

While Daenerys' army grew, so did her list of trusted advisers and the Breaker of Chains secured Missandei as she continued to march across Slaver's Bay to free more men and women who were being held by masters against their will.

However, it was once she reached Meereen that Daenerys' luck really started to change, with the indispensable Tyrion Lannister arriving to bend the knee and offer the clueless Khaleesi advice on how to rule - as well as win the war.

Varys also joined the group, with the two men able to give Daenerys valuable advice and guidance, while Grey Worm, Ser Jorah, and Dany's lover, Daario Naharis, continued to offer her physical strength, protection and fighting tactics.

Game of Thrones Daenerys Targaryen returns to Westeros to reclaim the Iron Throne

At one stage, Daenerys found herself with several new allegiances as House Sand, House Tyrell, and Yara Greyjoy pledged their loyalty to her cause, but when Cersei Lannister managed to pick those houses apart one by one, Dany found herself in a difficult position.

Thankfully, Jon Snow arrived in Dragonstone just in time - and though he initially refused to bend the knee to the Queen, Daenerys eventually managed to win him over and the pair have formed a strong allegiance, as well as enjoyed a romantic relationship.

Although Daenerys' allegiances and army put her in a strong position, it was the Khaleesi's three dragons that really helped her achieve so many victories, and she was left devastated when one of her beloved "children" was shot dead by the Night King at the end of season seven.

Season eight kicked off with Dany and her two remaining dragons arriving in Winterfell alongside Jon - much to the outrage of Jon's sister, Sansa Stark, and many Northerners who were unhappy with Jon giving up his title as King of the North in order to serve a Targaryen.

Jon has since found out that his birth father is actually Daenerys' much older brother, Rhaegar Targaryan, which means two key things: Dany is actually his biological auntie, and Jon is the true heir to the Iron Throne.

It is not yet known how Jon will deal with this information, or whether he will tell the Mother of Dragons the truth, but with the Night King and army of the dead currently marching South from the wall it looks like Jon might not be breaking the news for quite some time.
