Emmerdale spoilers: Nicola King turns to booze after another bruising run in with council rival Hilary
Convinced she’s lost the local elections she hits the bottle to drown her sorrows
WANNABE councillor Nicola King turns to booze in Emmerdale next week as she becomes convinced she’s lost the local election to her rival Hilary.
On the day of the election Nicola – who is usually one of the feistiest women in the village – has a sudden crisis of confidence and worries if she can really beat Hilary and her other great rival Harry.
Convinced that she’s blown the whole thing, Nicola – who’s played by Nicola Wheeler - heads to the Woolpack and begins drinking heavily to drown her sorrows. Has she really lost the election?
Hilary has put up a good fight, leaving poor Nicola feeling like she doesn’t stand a chance throughout the campaign.
Soap fans will recognise Hilary actress Gabrielle Glaistor from Channel 4 soap Brookside, which ended back in 2003.
She’s also appeared in Coronation Street and C5 soap Family Affairs.
It’s not just soaps she’s starred in though. Gabrielle has turned her hand to comedy and played ‘Bob’ in the Blackadder series alongside Rowan Atkinson.
More recently she’s had roles in Sherlock and ITV drama Unforgotten.
Hilary first appeared in the episode which aired on Tuesday 2 April 2019.
She was in The Woolpack and had a run in with Nicola, who didn’t know who she was.
Nicola discovered the truth in the next episode when Hilary arrived at Beauty and Bernice asking to put some posters in the window.
Nicola was enraged when Hilary laughed at her and said it would be easier than she thought to win.
Later, at the electoral hustings in the pub, Nicola was left deflated when Hilary’s speech about education was a hit with the locals.
