BRITNEY Spears has broken her silence after being treated at a mental health facility amid reports she was suffering with “severe emotional distress”.
The superstar singer, 37, shared a video on Instagram to address the rumours surrounding her wellbeing and accused her ex-manager, Sam Lutfi, of sending fake emails pretending to be her.
In the video, Britney explained she needed time to herself because her family have been “going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately”.
However, she reassured fans that “all is well”, adding: “I am strong, and stand up for what I want”.
Britney is said to be struggling to cope after her dad Jamie almost died from a ruptured colon.
In her Instagram post, Britney said: "Hi guys, just checking in with all those that were concerned about me. All is well.
"My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I needed time to deal but don't worry, I will be back very soon."
She also addressed fans with a lengthy caption, saying that the rumours about her mental health have “gotten out of control”.
“I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!!” she wrote.
“There’s rumours, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said.
“I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear.”
She claimed the fake emails being spread around were “crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago”.
“I did not write them,” Britney added.
“He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address.
“My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment.
“You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want!
“Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way.
“If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you.”
Britney was snapped leaving a five-star hotel with her boyfriend Sam Asghari on Easter Sunday.
It was the first time the Toxic singer had been seen since being admitted to mental health facility.
She entered a mental health facility earlier this month after revealing she'd cancelled her second Las Vegas residency.
Announcing she was cancelling her show, Britney wrote to her fans: "I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say.
"I will not be performing my new show Domination.
"I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart.
“However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.
“A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalised and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him.”
