Captain America beats Iron Man and Thor for the most camera time in A-list-filled movie Avengers: Endgame

Captain America

SUPERHERO epic Avengers: Endgame is set to become one of cinema’s all-time hits — with a record-breaking £694million opening.

The Marvel film — the finale to an 11-year series of 22 movies — is expected to beat its predecessor Infinity War by £200million.

It would give the new instalment the largest debut in cinema history — and it could become the first film to make a billion dollars in less than a week.

With a line-up featuring at least 30 superheroes, Endgame will also see some of Hollywood’s biggest stars competing for screen time.

But The Sun can reveal it is Chris Evans’s Captain America who comes out on top with 1hr 6min of the three-hour run time.

He pips Robert Downey Jnr’s Iron Man and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.

All three actors are expected to be making their final Marvel appearances as their multi-million pound contracts end.

Ex-Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan is propelled to the big league with her cyborg character Nebula fourth in the rankings with 41 minutes on screen.

But fans are likely to be disappointed that the franchise’s newest success — Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel — gets just 15 minutes.

And Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther only gets seven minutes despite his solo outing last year being the first superhero film to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

Endgame sees the Avengers attempt to undo the actions of all-powerful baddie Thanos in Infinity War after he wiped out half the universe’s population.

Some of the “fallen” characters do have screen time in the new movie and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has another solo movie lined up — meaning fans expect some of the dead to return.

How superhero flicks can foil phobias

MOVIE heroes Spider-Man and Ant-Man can help people conquer their fear of creepy-crawlies.

Watching just a seven second film clip cut symptoms by a fifth, a study of 424 people with phobias showed.

Participants were shown either scenes from the movies or just the opening credits along with footage of real ants and spiders.

Prof Menachem Ben-Ezra, of Ariel University, said: “Reduction in phobic symptoms was significant in the Spider-Man and Ant-Man group.”

He added showing the films could be used as a form of therapy.
