EastEnders spoilers: Sean and Jean will LEAVE Walford after their dramatic reunion – but is the move permanent?
Rob Kazinsky has confirmed Sean's return to EastEnders is only temporary
SEAN Slater has only been back in EastEnders for a matter of hours - but he may not be hanging around much longer.
And by the sounds of things, this time, he may be taking his mother Jean with him.
Tonight’s episode of EastEnders will see Sean finally come face to face with mum Jean – who’s recently been diagnosed with ovarian cancer – and sister Stacey.
Sean will be stunned to see what Jean’s going through when he takes her to chemotherapy. And Jean can sense her son doesn’t feel comfortable in Walford – a place that holds bad memories for him – so she suggests they go away together, just the two of them.
Jean hasn’t seen Sean for ten years, since he fled the Square after kidnapping baby Amy and almost killing her, along with her mum Roxy, in a freezing lake.
The pair have always had a strained relationship due to Sean not being able to cope with Jean’s bipolar disorder. He went on the rails in his teens and went out of his way to make his mum’s life a misery.
During his rebellious teenage years, Sean got into a row with his dad Brian and punched him. Brian died the next day from a brain haemorrhage caused
by the blow. He panicked and left Jean and Stacey to join the army. Stacey was left to care for her mum alone.
EastEnders fans know that actor Rob Kazinsky’s return as Sean is only a temporary one.
Speaking back in January when his big comeback was announced, Rob said: “This year marked ten years since Sean fled from Walford after plunging into a frozen lake.
"A decade since I left the studio at Elstree and Sean Slater behind to move to the USA to chase a dream that seemed so far fetched.
"Throughout my career I have always felt that my best work was on EastEnders as Sean Slater, that there was something there in him that I understood completely, something traumatic, something that we never really got to show the viewers.
"I have unfinished business in Albert Square and am thrilled to be returning to what I still consider to be my home, however briefly."
Meanwhile Gillian Wright who plays Jean hasn’t revealed whether or not her character will survive her cancer battle. She was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer earlier this year and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
It’s been revealed that Sean is back as part of a storyline that will focus on his mental health and his intention to take his own life.
EastEnders has worked closely with the Samaritans on Sean’s storyline to make sure it’s portrayed as sensitively as possible.
Since returning to the soap on Friday, Sean has caused chaos in Walford.
He started by sending everyone from Jack Branning to his own sister Stacey into panic mode when he collected Amy Branning from school - without her father's permission.
Sean then got into fisticuffs with Jack at Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell’s graveside, before breaking down and telling Roxy’s headstone that he’d be joining her soon.
