Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn said she’d been in soap ‘too long’ just days before quitting
CORONATION Street star Katie McGlynn snapped she'd been on the soap "too long" just days before announcing her departure.
The 25-year-old actress made the sassy remark during her recent appearance on Celebrity Juice.
When host Keith Lemon asked Katie - who has played Sinead Tinker in Corrie since 2013 - how long she had been on the soap, she didn't hold back with her response.
The TV star quipped: "Too long," prompting cheeky Keith to fire back: "Get out then."
And Katie might well have taken the host's advice as she confirmed she was quitting the show just days after last night's episode was recorded.
After the actress's exit was announced last week, soap sources told The Sun she would "need replacing urgently" after being part of some big storylines this year.
A source told The Sun: “Katie has just been nominated for a British Soap Award so it’s a big loss and not what bosses would have wanted to hear.
An insider recently told The Sun: "No one has been particularly happy since former show boss Kate Oates left.
"There are lots of scheduling issues and the workload has become very difficult to manage with six episodes a week.
"There are now lots of unhappy people who are jumping ship but many of them are ‘putting a spin on it’ publicly because they don’t want to upset their mates left trying to save the show."
It has been claimed that the soap's recent decision to require cast and crew to work weekends has led to some of the departures.
A source said: "Working weekends was introduced a few months ago and that was the last straw for some people.
"Some of the younger ones are on £40,000 to £50,000 and they are doing a lot of promotion for the show and don't get any extra cash for that.
