ANDREW Lloyd Webber has turned Prince Charming gay in a new politically correct musical of Cinderella.

The theatre composer’s reimagining of the fairytale sees the prince run off with a duke.

Instead of Cinderella falling for him, she is a “feisty” character who finds her happily-ever-after with a quirky man named Sebastian instead – as her suitor finds love with another man.

Three showings of the musical were performed on Wednesday Thursday and Friday for theatre big wigs from around the world at the Other Palace in London.

Andrew, 71, is believed to be in talks with Netflix to turn the musical into a series.

But it could also still launch on the West End before moving to Broadway in New York.

Speaking in September, he said: “They have remade Cinderella into a completely modern, feisty girl.

“Every piece of the story is followed, but it will be turned around so it’s not at all what you expect it to be. It just turns the whole thing around on itself.”

For the show he has teamed up with Call the Midwife actress Emerald Fennell, who helped write the script after penning the second series of Killing Eve.

David Zippel provided the lyrics, having previously done so for Disney films Mulan and Hercules.

During his career, Andrew Lloyd Webber has been responsible for some of the biggest shows in musical theatre including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Evita, Cats and The Phantom of Opera.

Last week he was named the UK's richest musician with a fortune of £820million.
