EMMERDALE fans reckon they have cracked Jamie Tate's storyline - insisting that his nephew Joe will soon be returning the the soap.
Jamie has been a hit in the show since returning to the village for the first time since he was seen as a toddler 20 years ago, but he is hiding a secret.
The lad has proved there's something to hide, with Jamie acting in a shifty manner, constantly avoiding answering his phone.
One episode this month saw his mobile constantly ringing while he was talking to mum Kim - racking up 12 missed calls.
Earlier this year, the villagers learnt that Joe was alive and that Cain Dingle and Graham Foster hadn't managed to kill him after all.
And now Emmerdale viewers are convinced that all Jamie's missed calls are coming from one place - Joe.
One tweeted: "Did anyone else notice Jamie having missed calls from an unknown number? It's Joe Tate!!! He's coming home! 😀"
Another was willing to put money on it, posting: "Bet you that’s Joe ringing Jamie.”
A third asked simply: “Is Jamie really in cahoots with Joe?”
Joe was thought to have been killed off in October after Kim decided he was becoming a problem and ordered him dead.
However, months later, it was confirmed Joe was still alive and actually on the run, with Graham Foster helping him escape.
Ned Porteous joined the soap as Joe in 2017, though he originally went by the alias 'Tom Waterhouse'.
He left last year and has been spending time in America, much to the agony of soap viewers who told him: "You're supposed to be in Emmerdale."
The star has been trying to get acting work in the States, explaining: "I'm desperate first to get out to America."
He added: "I've got management out there so I want to try my hand with the American casting system."
But could he be able to return as Joe Tate? Some Emmerdale fans certainly think so.
And one even says he's back in Britain, writing: "He’s back in the UK IRL too, in Brighton!!! We can only hope 😭😭."
