The details were released by funeral director Michael Fogg.

It had been feared that Freddie — who was estranged from his family and had become a penniless recluse — would get only a pauper’s funeral in Spain.

But Mr Fogg offered to pay £8,000 to repatriate the star of the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s — and cover the costs of a send-off.

On a Facebook post, Mr Fogg said: "We at Michael Fogg Family Funeral DIRECTORS.

"Together with Freddie's children would like to thank everyone for your comments and messages of support during this sad time.

"Please feel free to share this information x".
