EMMERDALE paedophile Maya Stepney has been sentenced to a year in prison for abusing Jacob Gallagher - but fans think she will be out in months to take her revenge.
The disgraced teacher - who is played by actress Louisa Clein in the ITV soap - was given a more lenient sentence than expected after having the abuse charges reduced down to sexual contact with a minor.
She was told: "You Maya Stepney, a person aged 18 or over, for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification intentionally communicated with another person, namely Jacob Gallagher, on the 15 January 2019 by way of text message.
"The communication was sexual and was intended to make Jacob Gallagher engage in communication that is sexual. Jacob Gallagher was under 16."
The court took into account Maya's previous good character and her lies about having no contact with Jacob since she was arrested.
But the judge decided to jail her, telling Maya: "You betrayed your employer, your partner and the young man at the centre of this who was 15-years-old when the sexual communication took place.
"So I'm in no doubt that the custody threshold has been met. I sentence you to 12 months immediate imprisonment."
Earlier David confronted Maya before she went into court and got her to admit what she had done.
She told him: "It wasn't abuse, and I'm not going to prison.
"I'm going to be with Jacob just like I warned you so I don't know why you're so surprised. You've lost David, and there's nothing you can do about it."
