Inside Gemma Atkinson’s surprise baby shower with free-flowing prosecco, delicious cupcakes and afternoon tea
GEMMA Atkinon’s friends treated her to a surprise baby shower – complete with free-flowing prosecco, delicious cupcakes and afternoon tea.
The former Emmerdale actress, 34, is expecting her first child with Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Márquez.
Gemma shared a series of snaps of her fun-filled day with her 1 million followers on Instagram.
In the first pic, Gemma is seen holding her burgeoning baby bump as she poses for the camera.
She then gave her fans an inside look at what went down on the day.
She wrote: “Such a wonderful surprise baby shower!!
“Cannot Thank my family and friends enough for all making the effort to come and celebrate with me and Baby Marquez and for bringing so many lovely gifts.
“Afternoon tea and cake and of course, Prosecco and cafe patron for guests. Top day!”
Gemma recently made headlines after confirming she will try hypno-birthing when she welcomes her first child with boyfriend Gorka.
After uploading a video of herself stroking her pregnancy bump, Gemma opened up about her birthing plans.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, the actress said she had been reading a book on hypnobirthing all day.
Gemma gushed: “So excited. I’m genuinely so excited for what’s to come.”
Earlier this month, Gemma told fans that she’s off on maternity leave and taking a break from her radio show.
She said: “It’s almost time for me to finish work for my maternity leave and take on my new role as being a mum!
“I’ll be hanging up my headphones on Friday 7th June, but not for too long as I’ll be returning to @hitsradiouk on a brand new drivetime show with the wonderful @wesbutters.
“I figured being woken up by a baby throughout the night will leave me in no fit state to wake you guys up at breakfast. So instead, I’ll be getting you all home from work weekdays with Wes 4pm – 7pm.
“Very much looking forward to our new show with lots of fun stuff to chat to you all about! In the meantime, it’s mum time.
“(Wish me luck on nappy duty and sleepless nights).”
