Robbie Williams claims he was haunted by singer Mama Cass while staying at Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd’s house
ROBBIE Williams says he was once haunted by the spirit of Cass Elliot, lead singer of the folk rock band The Mamas and the Papas, when he rented a house in L.A.
The Angels singer said the house, which belongs to Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd, left him terrified as soon as he entered the mansion.
Robbie, 45, rented the house in Los Angeles for three months, 18 years ago, and said it was “completely and utterly haunted” by Mama Cass, who died of heart failure aged 32 in 1974.
The ex-Take That star told how, when he moved in, he told the spirit he sensed there: “I know that you are here and I am going to respect your space. I please ask you to respect mine as I am scared of you.”
He added: “My friend who I was living with at the time came down. He’d just had a shower and he was white. I said, ‘What’s up?’ And he said, ‘I’ve just had a conversation with someone that wasn’t there’.”
And when The Mamas and the Papas hit California Dreamin’ played on the TV one night, the atmosphere in the room changed and “there was this silence I’ve never experienced before or since”.
His wolf puppy Sid began whimpering and refused to stay in the room, Robbie told Jo Wood on her Alien Nation podcast.
Robbie told Jo, 64 – ex-wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie – he spoke to Zak Starkey, who had lived there as a child with dad Ringo Starr.
Robbie said Zak told him: “I hear you’re at the old house. Have you met the kids yet? We used to play with them when we were little.”
Robbie – married to Ayda Field, 40 – said that when he left the removals workers refused to go back inside “because of the old lady sitting in the chair”.

Aykroyd has previously said the house was haunted and it inspired him to co-write 1984 film Ghostbusters, which he also starred in.
He said in 2013: “I’m sure it’s Mama Cass. You get the feeling it’s a big ghost.” He added: “I had several experiences. I saw things moving around on our counter, and doors opening and closing.
“The staff also had experiences, direct contact in terms of tactile touching, and then turning around and there’s no one there.”
