Beyonce is already being tipped for an OSCAR hours after releasing Lion King song, ‘Spirit’
Beyonce has been tipped to win her first Oscar, just hours after releasing her new song Spirit from The Lion King soundtrack.
Fans believe the superstar - who stepped out for the movie's Hollywood premiere last night with daughter Blue Ivy and husband Jay-Z - will bag an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the stunning track, which has garnered rave reviews.
The 37 year-old's loyal followers, who call themselves the Beyhive, are already mounting a Twitter campaign for the Crazy In Love singer to take home a golden statuette come awards season next year.
"Can we discuss how @Beyonce is going to win Best Original Song at the Oscars for #Spirit? The rest of you can go home. #TheLionKing," wrote one.
Added another: "SPIRIT BY BEYONCE GONNA WIN A OSCAR", while a third weighed in: "Dear @TheAcademy, she coming for your Best Original Song Oscar. Better have it polished and ready #Beyoncespirit."
Beyonce stars as Nala in the live-action remake of the Disney classic, which uses photo-realistic computer animation to bring the beloved tale to life.
She has also curated the soundtrack album, The Gift, featuring songs from various artists, as well as her track Spirit.
“This is sonic cinema,” Beyonce said of the album in a statement. “This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film.
"It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat.”
Her song, Spirit, features soaring, inspiring lyrics, including: "Rise up, to the light in the sky. Watch the light lift your heart up, burn you flame through the night."
Early reviews for the film have also been glowing, with critics hailing it as a "visual masterpiece" that will leave you "smiling and crying" throughout.
The movie also stars Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones, who reprising his role as Mufasa from the 1994 film, and comics Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa.
The trailer for the film has already had more than 37 million views.
If Beyonce does take home an Oscar next February, it will be the first nomination or win for the icon.
She failed to be nominated for her role in Dreamgirls back in 2007, with her co-star Jennifer Hudson taking home the award for Best Supporting Actress instead.
Her song from that movie Listen was nominated for Best Original Song but while she co-wrote the track with three others, she was deemed ineligible for a nomination because she wasn't considered an equal contributor.
It's no secret that Beyonce, who has been decorated with awards from Grammys to Billboards and Brits, has long coveted the ultimate award in the acting industry.
