Big Little Lies WON’T return for series three after last night’s explosive ending, says show boss
BIG Little Lies isn't returning for series three - because its A list cast are booked on other projects.
The drama has one of the most impressive roll calls in TV history, but it looks like Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, and now Meryl Streep are tied down with other projects.
President of the network Casey Bloys has told TV Line: "The reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood. I just think it's not realistic.
"I love this group of people - I would do anything with them.
"We have deals with some of them -- Nicole is doing her next show [The Undoing] with us.
"Look, if they all came to me and said, 'We worked out all of our schedules!' - then sure. But I just don't think it's realistic."
As well as Kidman being booked elsewhere, Witherspoon is already involved in two new TV series, The Morning Show and Little Fires Everywhere, and is working on Legally Blonde's third flick.
Streep has three film projects ongoing, including Little Women with Dern.
The news comes after last night's explosive episode saw Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz) reveal to her worried mother that she isn't in love with her husband.
She's also edging closer to revealing she was the one to push Perry down the steps to his death.
Meanwhile, Woodley - who plays Perry's rape victim Jane - recently said working alongside three-time Oscar winner Streep had made her a better actress.
Big Little Lies concludes on Sky Atlantic at 2AM on June 22 (with a repeat at 9PM) as it airs simultaneously in the US on HBO at 9PM on June 21.
