Emmerdale fans convinced Jai will blame Frank for starting the factory fire – despite him rescuing dying daughter Tracy

EMMERDALE fans are convinced Jai Sharma will blame Frank Clayton for starting the factory fire.

The former convict - played by Michael Praed, 59 - was pronounced dead last night after he rescued his daughter, Tracy Metcalfe, from the burning building.

But despite his heroic actions, fans are already predicting that the deceased character's name will be dragged through the mud.

One wrote: "Now Jay will blame Frank for starting the fire as revenge for being sacked while the real guilty ones walk free yet again a soap going down the crime does pay route."

While another said: "Judging by the setup in Emmerdale Frank, (Michael Praed) is gonna die in the Sweet Factory Fire, Kerry's gonna set him up to take the blame, she's overheard him fight with Jay, who sacked him earlier, bye Robin of Sherwood."

And a third commented: "Typical franks going to get the blame ain't he??"

During his emotional final scenes, brave Frank selflessly entered the burning building and freed Tracy from a store room where she was waiting to surprise boyfriend Billy.

After breaking into the room, he wrapped a coat around his daughter and sent her out of the building from which she emerged coughing and spluttering.

She was greeted by sister Vanessa, Megan, factory owner Jai and Kerry and Amy - who accidentally caused the blaze by sabotaging the CCTV.

But heartache was just around the corner, as Frank appeared, walking casually away from the inferno towards the relieved crowd.

However, the joy was short lived as a large explosion propelled him viciously into the side of a van.

Despite the paramedics' best efforts, they were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tracy screamed at them: "Please you've got to keep going. Please, you can't stop, he saved my life.

"Please dad. Don't go, not like this. I didn't even say thanks for saving me."

Vanessa rushed to her, saying: "He's gone sweetheart, he's gone."

As a result, police might conclude that the sacking gave him a motive to burn down his former workplace, as they begin to question suspects.

And with the actual fire starters' Kerry and Amy keen to stay out of jail as police begin questioning them over the blaze next week, it's unclear what lengths they will resort to in covering up their crime.

Kerry is still in total denial about the fact they caused the blaze but later, when the factory safe is opened and the money found to be missing, she struggles to contain her guilt.
