Poldark’s last EVER episode – all the big moments from the season finale including George saving Ross’ life
THE doors to Nampara House are closed and George has left Trenwith - Poldark really is over.
But fear not, we have all the juicy details from the VERY dramatic last episode of the hit BBC show.
Here are all the big moments from the last ever episode of Poldark (season five, episode 8)
Demelza thinks Ross is cheating
In the last episode we saw Ross conspire with the French to help them take down the English - however, this is all a ploy and Ross is actually tricking them into believing him so he can obtain information on their plans for invasion.
However part of the plan is to get Tess on board, as she is working with the French.
He fools her into believing he wants her, sexually - unfortunately Demelza overhears the seduction and believes they ARE having an affair.
She flees to Dr Enys and his wife's Caroline's house - who then tells her the truth, that it is all a lie, and Ross is just pretending to have an affair to gain Tess' trust.
Demelza then heads back to Nampara to confront Ross.
George saves Ross' life
When Demelza gets to Ross she sees he is in grave danger.
The French have uncovered his plan thanks to evil Ralph Hanson, who has been plotting Ross' downfall with his brother Joseph Merceron and of course George Warleggan.
Upon finding out that Ross has deceived them, the French Captain challenges him to a sword fight.
Things look bad for Ross but his life is saved when, after having a change of heart, George (of all people) comes to his rescue.
George shoots the French Captain and wounds Ralph.
Poldark and George call a (sort of) truce
Well this is something we NEVER thought would happen - Ross and George appear to have FINALLY call a truce.
After George saves Ross' life (we're still in shock about this) the pair of them have a very awkward heart-to-heart where Ross says he is "indebted" to him.
The conversation ends with Ross saying: "Are we to revert to our usual animosity?"
To which George replies: "With pleasure." But it is said very tongue-in cheek and in a way that it is clear their war is over.
Ross returns to combat
The show ended on a very emotional note with Demelza waving Ross off as he returned to battle.
His last parting words were: "I swear my love, I will return."
You'll remember that this is how the show started, with Ross returning from war, so in a away the show has gone full circle.
And now we say goodbye to Poldark... forever.
