NETFLIX'S The Crown has confirmed Gillian Anderson will play Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in season four.
The hit series returns in November for series three, with Olivia Colman taking over as Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy.
However fans already have something to look forward to for the following season, as The X Files star Gillian, 51, has been confirmed to portray the Iron Lady herself.
In a post on the streaming service's official Twitter, a picture of Gillian was shared alongside the message: "Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher in The Crown Season Four, now in production."
Meanwhile Gillian was quoted beside her picture saying: "I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman.
"Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era."
Gillian will be joined in series four by actress Emma Corrin, who will play Lady Diana Spencer.
Meanwhile in series three, Oscar winner Olivia will be joined by Helena Bonham Carter, who replaces Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.
Tobias Menzies will also take over playing Prince Philip from Matt Smith, while Josh O'Connor will play Prince Charles and Killing Eve writer Emerald Fennell will play Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Margaret Thatcher was in power from 1979 to 1990 during Queen Elizabeth's reign and had to deal with the Falklands War, the miners strike and the ongoing Troubles in Northern Ireland among many other issues.

The cast of The Crown will change every two series to reflect the aging of the Royal Family.
The first two seasons were a huge hit with viewers and critics alike, with Claire, 35, winning a Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy and SAG Awards for her portrayal of the Monarch.
