Emmerdale fans beg soap bosses to re-cast Ellis Chapman with a new actor after Asan N’Jie is sacked for threatening to kill Jamie Lomas
EMMERDALE fans have begged soap bosses to re-cast Ellis Chapman with a new actor after Asan N’Jie was sacked for threatening to kill Jamie Lomas.
The 25-year-old squared up to the Hollyoaks actor, 44, at the TV Choice Awards on Monday night at London's Park Lane Hilton Hotel.
The young star was restrained by security and could be heard shouting: “Do you think you are a f***ing big man, I’m going to f***ing kill you.”
He also shouted: “I’m going to f***ing knife you.”
Earlier today, an Emmerdale spokesperson confirmed to The Sun that Asan - who played Ellis Chapman - had been sacked with immediate effect.
And fans were quick to take to Twitter to beg show bosses to re-cast the character.
One wrote: "@emmerdale please recast Ellis, the actor has only been in the role a year, give another young actor the chance to take him on."
A second added: "I wonder if he will be recast coz it seems like they had big plans for Ellis since they brought in his dad. I do hope they keep billy and Al. It would be unfair on them if they'd have to leave due to something that idiot did."
A third agreed, writing: "Ellis could, and probably should be recast. The character has a lot more to give I feel, especially with them bringing in Al."
They added in a follow up tweet: "Agreed he'll need time off screen. It would be nice if it's a recast, that it goes to someone fresh out off Drama school; allow something positive to come out of this."
The ITV soap said in a statement: “Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.
“ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”
Asan issued a grovelling apology and said in a statement: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”
The two men have remained tight-lipped on what sparked their explosive row, but The Sun Online exclusively revealed they have fallen out over one of Asan’s friends and Emmerdale co-stars, who Jamie is currently involved in a financial dispute with.
