STRICTLY Come Dancing newcomer Rylan Clark-Neal was viciously trolled tonight as he made his It Takes Two debut.

The TV presenter is co-hosting with Zoe Ball as she juggles her new radio breakfast show.

Despite a successful first stint on the show, Rylan was forced to hit back at cruel online trolls who suggested he shouldn't have got the job on Strictly's spin-off.

One said: "I’m sorry but why is Rylan on @bbcstrictly #ItTakesTwo Zoe was brilliant on her own?! #NotNeeded."

Another added: "#ittakestwo Why oh Why do we need Rylan Clarke on this programme he seems to get where water can’t he is totally unnecessary on this programme why can’t it remain as it’s always been just Zoe Ball xxxx I won’t be watching it xxxx."

Someone else said: "I love #ittakestwo as Zoe is AMAZING but I’m sorry I just cannot stand Rylan. Sorry won’t be watching. I appreciate lots of people like him, but he’s not for me, I think he ruins shows."

Refusing to take it lying down, Rylan said: "Just to clear something up. Zoe does NOT need a co host. We are splitting duties as she has her breakfast show.

"Here for everyone’s opinion. Thanks for the nicer comments."

He was then flooded with positive comments from fans who urged him to ignore the haters.

Someone said: "Screw 'em, @Rylan. You're in a job that you love and are making more money then them. Let the haters live their miserable life, while you keep smashing it."

Another added: "I personally absolutely love you on the show and i hope you know most of us are v glad you're part of it, love having you back on my tele."

Zoe has hosted It Takes Two since 2011 when she took over the role from Claudia Winkleman, who went on to co-host the results show with Tess Daly before replacing Bruce Forsyth in 2014 on the main show after he stepped down.

Rylan filled the BBC Radio 2 slot left vacant by Zoe in January when she made the move to the breakfast show.

He proved a natural on the airwaves after slotting in for the host in the summer.

Now he is splitting presenting duties with Zoe on It Takes Two  - and will go solo for two shows a week.

Aside from tonight's launch show, the pair will be doing two separate days and co-hosting together on Fridays.

Watch Rylan on Mondays and Tuesdays, Zoe on Wednesdays and Thursdays, then both of them together on Fridays on BBC One.
