Noel Gallagher to perform at Glastonbury after admitting he’d break no live gigs pledge for festival

IT’S been almost three years since Noel Gallagher made his debut at Glastonbury with his brother Liam as part of Oasis.

And now the High Flying Birds frontman is preparing to return to Worthy Farm this summer after he was pencilled in to play the Pyramid stage on Saturday June 25.

Noel, 54, previously said he wouldn’t play live this year unless it was at the famous music festival.

American band Haim are also scheduled to play Glastonbury on the same day.

A source said: “Noel has never played a music gig at Glastonbury outside of Oasis who performed twice there.

“This will be a monumental moment for him and it will be an incredible moment for the festival.

“He is currently pencilled on the list for the line-up for the Pyramid stage on the Saturday of Glastonbury and will perform just before the headliner.

“Haim, who are best pals with Taylor Swift, are also scheduled to be on just before him.

“They played a live steamed set from Worthy Farm last year and were a huge hit.”

The official Glastonbury line up is expected to be released in March.

Noel said last year he wasn’t planning on playing live this year and was focussing on music but admitted he’d make an exception for the organisers, Michael and Emily Eavis.

He explained: “I had a plan anyway – by the end of 2019 was to take 2020 off, then 2021 was writing, 2022 was recording, then go back out in 2023 – so I’m still ahead of schedule.

“I’m not planning on doing anything till 2023 anyway, but if Glastonbury happens and they want me to do it, I’ll do that.”

Noel last appeared on the bill at Glastonbury in 2017 when he spoke at the festival’s screening of the Oasis documentary Supersonic.

As well as answering questions from the crowd Noel burst into song and led the crowds in a rendition of Don’t Look Back In Anger.

He previously played at Worthy Farm as part of Oasis in 1994 and 2004 – five years before the group split.

With The High Flying Birds Noel has enjoyed huge success with the band landing four UK No1 albums.

As part of Oasis the British rock star boasted eight UK No1 singles and eight UK No1 albums.
