MULTIPLE reality shows have followed the trials and tribulations of sister wives around the US.

Those shows include Seeking Sister Wife and the original Sister Wives.

What is a sister wife?

In a polygamous society, a sister wife is one of multiple women married to the same man.

Polygamy, the act or condition of a person marrying another person while still being lawfully married to another spouse, is illegal in the US.

As a result, a man who has more than one wife is legally wed to only one of them.

The crime of polygamy is punishable by a fine, imprisonment, or both.

What is Seeking Sister Wife?

Seeking Sister Wife is a TLC reality show that follows "four plural families" in various phases of "seeking, dating or transitioning" a new sister wife into their lives.

The show launched in 2018 and season three airs Mondays at 8pm ET.

Seasons one and two can be viewed on TLC.com or Amazon Prime Video.

The current season focuses on the Alldredge and Snowden families.

It was revealed in April that Dimitri and Ashley Snowden were accused of abuse by second wife, Christeline, after she claimed in court documents that he “choked her during sex" while the matriarch "threw a bottle at her."

Christeline claimed the most recent incident of abuse occurred on January 13, 2021 with only she and her husband present. 

She claimed in the filing: “I was woken up by him slamming my head into the headboard of the bed and he was yelling at me. My head was slammed into the headboard several times."

What is Sister Wives?

TLC's Sister Wives has been on the air for 15 seasons after launching in 2010.

"Meet the Brown family!" reads the description for the long-running show.

"There's husband Kody - along with his four wives: Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn and their combined 18 children.

"See how they attempt to navigate life as a 'normal' family in a society that shuns their lifestyle.

"From their unconventional family structure and living arrangements to financial challenges, each episode exposes the inner workings of a polygamist household, revealing the unexpectedly tight-knit and loving relationships between Kody and his wives."

The drama has been in full force this season.

Meri Brown vowed she is "not giving up now" in a cryptic Instagram post she shared following her "split" from Kody.

The reality star raised eyebrows when she posted an inspirational quote made famous by Law and Order character Olivia Benson to her Instagram Story.

It read: "You're a fighter. Look at everything you've overcome. Don't give up now."
