How did Adele get famous?
ADELE is an undoubtedly talented singer and songwriter from London.
Here's everything you need to know about Adele and how she rose to fame.
How did Adele get famous?
Born on May 5, 1988 to Penny Adkins, Adele grew up in between Tottenham and Brighton, followed by Brixton and West Norwood.
Adele has been singing nearly her entire life, and credits her inspiration to share music as the moment she discovered Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald for the first time after finding their records in a thrift shop as a teenager.
She went on to attend the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology, where she continued to work on her voice and recorded her first demo.
The demo was three songs in length, and one of Adele's friends ended up posting it to her MySpace page. Her songs instantly took off, and the London-based record label XL Recordings ended up reaching out to her.
Adele graduated high school in 2006, and by November of that year, she had signed a deal with XL Recordings.
Her debut album, 19, brought the star to near immediate fame. After performing on Saturday Night Live following its release, 19 became the number one album on iTunes.
In 2011, she released her second album, 21. The album soon became the highest-selling record of the 21st century, and went on to win Album of the Year at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
She has earned a total of 15 Grammys throughout her career.
A few years later, Adele shared her third album with the world in 2015, entitled 25. She went on to break her own records, selling over 800K copies in the first week.
After a six year hiatus, Adele recently announced her fourth studio album, 30, has a release date of November 19, 2021.

Why are Adele albums named as numbers?
Adele has named all of her albums after the age she was when she wrote them.
After the release of 25, she originally said she was no longer going to name her albums after her age, adding that she was ending the trilogy.
However, in October of 2021, Adele announced the title of her fourth album would once again be named after her age, which at the time of composition was 30.
Before the album was announced, many projections containing the number 30 began appearing around the world. Fans began to speculate that Adele was responsible for the mysterious light shows, and were later proved to be right.
It is unknown at the time being whether or not Adele will continue to name her albums after her age if she should go on to release more music in the future.
