What happened to Wendy Williams?

What happened to Wendy Williams?

Since the conclusion of her self-titled talk show, Wendy Williams has faced ill health and financial hardships.

On February 24, 2024, the former TV host shares more details about her struggles in Lifetime's Where is Wendy Williams?

In a preview for the documentary, she told viewers: "Since I was six years old, all I wanted was to be famous.

"I have no money...and let me tell you something, if it happens to me, it can happen to you.

From September 2022 to October of the same year, Wendy was in rehab for reported substance abuse issues.

At the time, an insider told The U.S. Sun: "Alcohol has been a real struggle for her over the past several years.

"She is battling severe alcohol abuse mixed with serious health issues.

"There are no other drugs involved. She has had numerous doctors who have told her for years 'If you drink, you'll die.'

"She never really wanted to stop and the people around her in New York have allowed her to keep drinking."

What was Wendy diagnosed with?

On February 21, 2018, Wendy announced she was diagnosed with Graves' disease and hyperthyroidism.

She later confessed to also suffering from Lymphedema.

During an episode of The Wendy Williams Show, she told her audience: "My thyroid has been totally cattywampus and that is the eye thing that you all have been seeing.

"You caught it before I did. My thyroid, my hyperthyroid is attached also to Graves' disease.

"Graves' disease squeezes the muscles behind your eyeballs and so that's the reason for..." she added as she opened her eyes wide toward the camera.

On January 18, 2019, Wendy went on another hiatus because her battle with Graves disease was further complicated by a shoulder fracture she suffered in December of the previous year.

On October 18, 2021, The Wendy Williams Show returned for its final season premiere without her.

She missed the entire season because her previous episode with covid-19 further complicated her struggles with Graves.

Who replaced Wendy?

On February 22, 2022, it was revealed Wendy's show was ending after season 13.

It was also confirmed that Sherri Shepherd's self-titled talk program was replacing Wendy's.

Wendy's last episode premiered on June 17, 2022.

Later that same year, Sherri's show debuted on September 12.
