Who is Alanis Morissette?

Born on June 1, 1974, Alanis Morissette is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician from Ottawa, Ontario.

Both of Alanis' parents are educators; her mother Georgia Feuerstein is a high school principal and her father Richard Morissette is a French teacher.

In April 1991, she released her self-titled debut album after signing a record deal with MCA Records Canada.

In June 1995, Alanis released her most successful project to date; Jagged Little Pill.

Jagged Little Pill spawned the hit songs You Oughta Know, You Learn, Head Over Feet, Ironic, and Hand in My Pocket.

The record went on to sell over 33 million records worldwide.

Jagged Little Pill also earned her the distinction of Canada's first artist to achieve a double diamond album certification.

Alanis' commercial success continued well into the 1990s and beyond, earning seven Grammy Awards out of 14 nominations.

On June 17, 2022, she released her 10th studio album The Storm Before the Calm.

On May 22, 2010, Alanis tied the knot with Mario "Souleye" Treadway in a private wedding ceremony at their home in Los Angeles.

The couple first met one another at a meditation gathering in the abovementioned city in 2009.

"So happy to share with you that my man Souleye and I got married," the singer shared with her Twitter followers.
