while discussing paparazzi and fame.
"I have a love-hate relationship with the paparazzi, but actually I love them because they are empowering us," he said at the time.
"They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe.
"Kate Upton ain't Marilyn Monroe, Kim is Marilyn Monroe. You know that. She was controversial. She [is] controversial."
Model Kate had appeared on the cover of TIME magazine earlier in the year in a Marilyn-inspired shoot.
The video resurfaced on a Kardashian fan account on TikTok, where fans claimed Kanye was still influencing Kim's style today.
One wrote: "When did Ye say this? And Kim still following his advice."
Another posted: "Kim being Marilyn after Kanye said she's Marilyn..."
Kim faced backlash for her Met Gala outfit, with critics claiming it didn't match up to her long train of incredibly bold moments in previous years.
Critics claimed she looked like a "copycat Marilyn" and thought she seemed "uncomfortable" as she struggled to walk up the stairs.
KIM'S DIET
Speaking with at the Gala, Kim revealed the many hoops she had to jump through to fit into Marilyn's iconic gown.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum and Pete took a quick trip to Orlando, Florida, recently where the dress was being held at Ripley's Believe It or Not!
Kim shared: "I had this idea to try it on and then they came with armed guards and gloves."
At first, the dress didn't fit the mom of four's signature curves, but that didn't stop her from wearing it.
'SUCH A CHALLENGE'
She told the magazine: "I tried it on and it didn't fit me. I said, 'Give me three weeks.' I had to lose 16 pounds today.
"It was such a challenge. It was like a [movie] role. I was determined to fit [into] it. I haven't had carbs or sugar in about three weeks.
"We're having pizza and doughnut party back at the hotel [after the Met Gala]."
Marilyn's dress - which she wore to serenade John F. Kennedy in 1962 - was designed by Jean Louis and originally cost $12,000.
It wasn't just tight on Kim – reported that the late actress allegedly had to be sewn into the dress prior to her iconic performance at Madison Square Garden.
Ripley's purchased the gown from Julien's Auction in November 2016, paying a shocking $4.81 million for it.
It is, to date, one of the most expensive dresses in the world.
