Who is Retta?

Born on April 12, 1970, Retta is an American actress and comedy star from Newark, New Jersey.

Years after graduating from Duke University, she traded professions and began a career in comedy, which supplanted her career as a chemist.

Following her move from North Carolina to Los Angeles, California, Retta landed a recurring role in the Amy Poehler-led series, Parks and Recreation.

In 2009, the chemist-turned-actress began playing the recurring character Donna Meagle.

She was promoted to a full-time cast member on the show during season three.

Retta also had appearances in Key & Peele, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce.

In the wake of Parks & Recreation's conclusion, she joined the cast of Good Girls.

Alongside Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, and Manny Montana, Retta stayed on the program from the beginning of the series till its end.

In June 2021, Good Girls ended its run on NBC after four seasons.

Regarding the closure of Good Girls, the actress shared on Live! With Kelly and Ryan: "We were very close to a fifth season.

"One person ruined it for all of the cast and crew, so it's not back.

When it came to recasting options, she added: "It was a little too close to when they would have to start and figure out the story."
