Gisele Bundchen split from Leonardo DiCaprio because she was done ‘numbing’ herself with alcohol

GISELE Bundchen has revealed she split from former boyfriend Leonardo Di Caprio when she was done "numbing" herself with alcohol.

The 38-year-old was involved with the actor, now 44, from 2000 to 2005, and has now admitted she was blind to the problems in their doomed relationship.

Speaking about their break-up, she told Porter magazine that while she tried to resolve their issues, Leo remained “the same” and they ended things are realising they wanted different things.

The super model said: "No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I'd chosen not to look at.

"Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes."

Gisele is now married to NFL star Tom Brady, which whom she shares two kids – Benjamin and Vivian.

Leo, who is currently dating Camille Morrone, has gone on to date a long line of models since including Toni Garrn, Bar Refaeli and Erin Heatherton.

Gisele, who was one of the most popular models of the 90s, formally announced her retirement from the catwalk in 2015, before making a one-off comeback at the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

She recently revealed that despite no longer being on the catwalk, she has never working harder.

"I've never worked so hard in my life, actually,” she said.

"I think I'll retire only the day I die, because I love working. I love creating. I think that's why we're here: to keep creating, expanding and learning."
