Is Britney Spears being held against her will?

In 2019 it was revealed Britney would be taking some time out from her pop career and cancelled her Las Vegas residency.

A source told  that Spears' decision was made due to the tremendous stress she's endured due to the current health crisis of her father, Jamie Spears.

However, since she was admitted to the facility #FreeBritney has been trending on social media as a result of allegations that the singer is being held against her will.

Tess Barker and Barbara Gray, comedians and creators of the Britney's Grampodcast, claimed  that they had received "an anonymous tip from a credible source" alleging that Britney entered the health facility against her will.

However, there is NO corroboration that the Stronger singer went against her will or is being held in the facility.

What did Britney say on Instagram?

On April 23, 2019 Britney addressed the rumours on Instagram about all the reports she was being held against her will in the health facility.

In a video on the social media site, Brit said: "Hi guys, just checking in with all those that were concerned about me. All is well.

"My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I needed time to deal but don't worry, I will be back very soon."

She also addressed fans with a lengthy caption, saying that the rumours about her mental health have “gotten out of control”.

“There’s rumours, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said.

“I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear.”

She claimed the fake emails being spread around were “crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago”.

“I did not write them,” Britney added.

What has Britney's family said about her situation?

Britney's immediate family is yet to comment on her mental health.

However, her boyfriend Sam Asghari has assured fans that the popstar is "doing amazing" after checking into a mental health facility.

The 25-year-old dancer told TMZ: "She’s doing amazing. Her fans are so amazing to be so concerned, but she’s doing great. Nobody needs to worry, she’s doing amazing, she’ll be back soon."
