Chris Hemsworth to return for fourth Star Trek movie
Paramount Pictures announce that the Thor and Avengers star will return from the dead for the next installment
Paramount Pictures have announced that their fourth Star Trek movie will star Chris Hemsworth - despite his character dying in 2009's Star Trek.
The star of Thor and the Avengers movies appeared in the JJ Abrams' directed film as George Kirk but died in the opening minutes.
But Paramount have announced that the next movie - the sequel to Star Trek Beyond which opens this month - will allow James Kirk (played by Chris Pine) to "cross paths with a man he never had the chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father."
The rest of the cast - which includes Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto - are all expected to return for the fourth installment.
But there was no mention of a replacement for the late Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov in the first three rebooted Star Treks but was killed in a tragic accident on June 19.
The first two Star Trek updates have been huge international hits, with Star Trek grossing $380million worldwide and Star Trek: Into Darkness earning $460million worldwide.
