Blackfishing is term used to describe someone pretending to be black or mixed-race on social media.

Showing off her beauty regime, which resulted in her face being a lot darker than her body, she told her followers:  “I’ve really been enjoying Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk.

"But this is too dark for me so I’m going to be mixing it with my studio fix fluid from MAC which is a holy grail of mine I use it all the time and this is in the shade NC42 which is still very dark.

The Love Island star continued: “I often get lots of comments on how my face is too dark.

“I go very pale in the winter time and obviously now it’s getting colder, it’s getting wintery, so I’ve gotten quite pale.

“Once my foundation is on, and the whole world has hated me for how orange my face is…”

Her followers were quick to comment on her choice of colour, with one person exclaiming: “She uses nc42 which is the LIGHTER bottle she’s holding… I’m punjabi and i’m NC30.

"I know black women and asian women who are NC42. lol.

"You can defend this all you want but it’s actual madness & FYI it doesn’t look believable for one second. you are all orange blud."

While another wrote: "Is this satire? There’s no way she actually believes it’s a match… It’s like 10 shades too dark."

And a further person added: "Wait, Molly Mae uses NC42... as in three shades up from NC45 that Mac give every black woman."

Others were quick to defend her, with someone tweeting: “Molly mae is not blackfishing, she just levelled up from dream matte to Mac nc40 LEAVE HER ALONE.”

Another fan said: "Molly Mae using nc42 is wild because that’s obviously no where near her shade. But if she wants to look orange what’s your own? Say what you want but she definitely does not try to imitate black women or try to achieve a racially ambitious look."
