Sun readers believe Love Island bosses SHOULD step in after Joe is accused of emotional abuse towards Lucie
SUN readers believe Love Island bosses SHOULD step in after Joe was accused of "emotional abuse" towards Lucie.
A poll has revealed 77 per cent of you think Joe's behaviour has crossed a line and want him kicked out.
The poll was launched after furious readers expressed concerns when Joe complained Lucie was spending too much time with handsome boxer Tommy Fury - and that it was "weird" they were close friends.
Women's Aid complained about Joe's "abusive" behaviour, which triggered a flood of Twitter protests and more than 300 complaints of TV watchdog Ofcom.
Adina Claire of domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid, told The Sun Online: “Controlling behaviour is never acceptable.
“With Love Island viewers complaining about Joe’s possessive behaviour towards Lucie, more people are becoming aware of this and want to challenge it.
"Abusive relationships often start off with subtle signs of control.”
It's after ITV vowed to protect its stars following the suicides of reality TV contestant Mike Thalassitis, 26, and 32-year-old Sophie Gradon.
They will now be offered therapy sessions and financial training.
However, vulnerable Lucie has cried almost every night during her Love Island experience.
She came to blows with Joe again on Sunday night when he told her to stay away from the other boys.
He told her: "I'm not happy with it. It's strange. I think it's time for you to get close with the girls."
Last year Adam Collard raised concerns with viewers over his "gaslighting" behaviour towards Rosie Williams.
He was slammed for his treatment of his partner and Women's Aid urged fans to recognise the signs of emotional abuse.
Now The Sun Online's Love Island columnist Megan Barton-Hanson wants "immature" Joe out too.
She ranted: "I felt so sorry for Lucie when Joe was telling her how to act. If he’s that unhappy he should just break it up. It’s like he was using that as his get out clause.
"It’s not right! I couldn’t believe it when he was telling her to hang out with the girls. He can’t dictate who she enjoys spending time with.
"I think Joe is super controlling but at the same time I feel like she a strong, feisty girl. She needs to speak up for herself and not speak up for herself.
"Lucie needs to tell him to do one! He’s really immature."
An ITV spokeswoman told The Sun: “We take the emotional wellbeing of all the Islanders extremely seriously.”
Tonight, either Joe, Lucie, Anton or Elma will leave the villa after the islanders were forced to choose the least compatible couples.
Viewers were then tasked with voting to save Joe or Lucie and Anton or Elma.
