Love Island’s Chris Taylor and Harley Brash confirm split and say they ‘didn’t have enough quality time for each other’
LOVE Island's Chris Taylor has broken his silence after splitting from Harley Brash and revealed they didn't "have enough quality time for each other".
The Sun Online revealed on Thursday last week the pair were the first of this year's couples to split, just two weeks after the final.
Taking to Instagram this morning, Chris, 28, confirmed the news alongside a picture of him and Harley, 20, in happier times.
He wrote: "A serious post for once guys. I’m sad to say that both Harley and I have parted ways.
"Both of us have been very busy with separate opportunities and haven’t had enough quality time for each other.
"We both have the upmost support and respect for one another and the decision was made amicably.
"I wish her all the best and will always be glad we rode the Love Island adventure together.
"I will be very proud of everything she has done and everything she’ll do. The future is bright crumpet go get em! Chris xx."
Last week, a source close to the couple told The Sun Online: “Harley and Chris broke up a couple of days ago, it was really amicable and they both agreed they’ll stay friends.
“Sadly there’s no romance there - it was just a holiday fling.”
The couple had remained fiercely tight-lipped about the split over fears they could miss out on lucrative opportunities - such as the ITV2 Supermarket Sweep reboot with Rylan Clark-Neal which they filmed together on Wednesday last week despite secretly no longer being an item.
Our source added: “Nobody wants to be the first couple to split up - it’s embarrassing and there’s so much pressure to stay together to make money.
“It’s all over but they don’t really want fans to know that - they’d rather someone else split up first!”
Another source behind the scenes of Supermarket Sweep revealed: "They barely spoke to each other all day - it was obvious there's nothing between them.
"She arrived to filming first and he came separately - they were definitely faking it for the show."
Their split comes just 18 days after announcing they were dating "exclusively" and not seeing anyone else when probed by host Caroline Flack on spin-off show After Sun.
