Love Island’s Maura says she’s ‘burnt out’ and taking time off as she apologises for axing club PA

LOVE Island's Maura Higgins has apologised for bailing on a club appearance and going boozing instead - saying she was "burnt out".

The Sun Online revealed today that the star had cancelled a PA at a Birmingham club claiming she was unwell before hitting the town with her sister Becki.

The 28-year-old grid girl said she hadn't taken a day off since the villa and had even visited a doctor, telling fans: "I am shattered."

Speaking in an Instagram video, she said: "I wanted to come on and say to everyone who was coming to see me at my PA, I'm so sorry I didn't make it.

"To be honest I am completely burnt out. I've not had a day off since leaving the villa and I've not had any social time or anything.

"I need to take a few days off and just sort my head out. I'm completely run down.

"I have been in with a doctor and I'm feeling good because last night I had a really good sleep and I haven't really got a lot of sleep since leaving the villa.

"I do feel bad that I've had to cancel some work for the next couple of days but I need to do it for me because I am shattered.

"I've not had time for normal day-to-day stuff like 'go to dinner, go to the cinema'. I've not had that, and I need to because it's good for the head to go out and do normal things.

"It's just a big shock to the system when you come out of the villa. You're just so hectic. I've not had a down day."

Maura went out with her sister in London instead of going to Birmingham to fulfil her booking.

As The Sun Online revealed today, she was seen cosied up to a mystery man in the smoking area of celeb hotspot Mahiki,

But while her Love Island boyfriend Curtis - who Maura hasn't been pictured with for days - was nowhere to be seen, she seemed close to the unidentified man.

She was seen puffing on a cigarette outside Mahiki in London's Mayfair while he rested his hand in the small of her back.

Meanwhile, mystery continues to surround her relationship status with Curtis, who she hasn't been seen with for days.

A photo she posted of herself at Mahiki included plenty of comments from people asking the likes of: "Whats happened to Curtis 😢."

Another begged: "Please tell me are you still with Curtis Maura? Because you two are one of my favourite couples."

Others were desperate to know: "Have u and Curtis split?";
